Veterans Day

Hello school community

Welcome to this week's edition of the James Madison Middle School Newsletter! We're excited to share the latest happenings and updates from our school community to keep you informed and engaged.

Veteran's Day Assembly

We were able to take a few moments on Tuesday to honor several Veterans during our Veterans Day Assembly. A big shout out to Mrs. Cardwell and Mrs. Duff and the GT Leadership Committee for all their hard work planning the event. Thanks for our band and chorus students for performing. Thank you to our guest speaker, Sergeant Major Jeremy Allnutt. Check out the pictures of the week for a few more snapshots.

Second Chance Breakfast

Second Chance Breakfast continues to be a success! Combined with the regular breakfast our cafeteria staff is serving between 250-275 students each morning.
If students miss breakfast between 7:00–7:35 a.m., they can now grab a quick meal at 8:26 a.m.. Cafeteria staff will be stationed in each hallway with “Grab & Go” breakfast bags.

We will also begin our 7th grade class Scripps Spelling Bee on Monday, November 17. This is not for a grade, but each class period winner will receive house points and may choose a prize from my prize bucket. The Scripps Spelling Bee word list is also available for review in Google Classroom.

8th Grade Information

On Nov. 25, the 8th grade students will be taking a field trip to the Golden Ticket Cinema to watch "Sarah's Oil" . Students will be eligible to attend this event if they have not “fouled out” for this incentive cycle, received a major office referral, been suspended or been placed in ICE, and students cannot have a missing library book. The cost is $13, but that includes the movie, a drink, popcorn, & transportation. The due date for this money will be Nov. 21. Orders due Friday Nov. 21 Students received information about the 8th grade fundraiser for the end of the year trip to Walther's Golf N Fun. This has been an 8th grade tradition for the past few years and we want to continue with it so the kids can have a blast on their last JMMS field trip with their friends! Transportation is our biggest expense on this trip so we are selling the famous Texas Roundhouse rolls, butter, & gift cards just in time for Christmas delivery. Rolls are $8 a dozen, $4 for a tub of their cinnamon butter, & gift cards can be bought in increments of $10, $25, and $50. Last year, we raised over the $1500 that we needed for transportation costs. That's our goal again this year! Help us reach our goal while buying your Christmas essentials and gifts. If you have any questions, please reach out to Ms. Bearden through Parent Square. To place orders, friends and family will need to go to: https://hopkins.schoolcashonline.com/Fee/Details/2484/502/False/True or scan the QR code above.
