Hello school community

Welcome to this week's edition of the James Madison Middle School Newsletter! We're excited to share the latest happenings and updates from our school community to keep you informed and engaged.
 

Lt. Governor Visits

On Thursday, Kentucky's Lt. Governor, Jacqueline Coleman, stopped by JMMS. During her visit she toured our CTE lab and discussed the program with several of our students.
 

October Students of the Month

Congratulations to the following students who were chosen as our October Students of the Month:
6th Grade: Marissa Crawford, Stella Crouch, Dayleigh Damron, Lucas Rutter, Dylan Waddle
and Charlee Wyatt
7th Grade: Brooklyn Black, Val Franco Jax McClain, Sadie Pearson, Emily Phelps, Carson Rogers and Noah Utley
9th Grade: Addison Coones, Kamryn Daugherty, Colby Miller, Abel Parkest, Paris Penrod, Prapti Prayasee, Mathieu Rorer, Liam Shultz and Ellie Strader

Second Chance Breakfast

Second Chance Breakfast started this past week, it will continue for the rest of the year. Several students are taking advantage of this opportunity.
If students miss breakfast between 7:00–7:35 a.m., they can now grab a quick meal at 8:26 a.m.. Cafeteria staff will be stationed in each hallway with “Grab & Go” breakfast bags.

 

JMMS VOLLEYBALL TRYOUTS

December 17th from 3-5:30
December 18th from 5:30-7:30
December 19th from 5:30-7:30
Any girl interested in trying out for the volleyball team will need to turn in a copy of their active sports physical to Coach Lee upon arrival to tryouts. Students who don't turn a physical in to Coach Lee will not be allowed to try out. Girls will need to wear tennis shoes and athletic wear to tryouts.
 

JMMS Talent Show

Important Dates regarding the JMMS Talent Show are:
Auditions: Tuesday, November 18th @ 2:45
Rehearsal: Thursday, December 11th @ 12:45
Talent Show: Friday, December 12th @ 1:00

Students who wish to participate in the JMMS Talent Show MUST complete the registration form by Friday, November 14, 2025, to be eligible for auditioning for the JMMS Talent Show.

A separate registration form should be completed by each student in group talent acts.


 

JMMS Veterans’ Day Assembly:

JMMS will host a Veterans’ Day Program on Tuesday, November 11th at 9:00am. Visitors are welcome to attend to help us honor our Veterans. If attending, please ensure that you bring your photo ID with you to provide at check-in. 

If you would like to submit information about the Veterans in your life to be honored in our program, please complete the following form by Friday, November 7th.

Basketball Season

Our Basketball Teams will continue their season(s) this week. Schedules can be found on our school's website. All tickets must be purchase online. The cost for all games is $7.00. Senior Adults can get passes by visiting the Hopkins Co. Bd. of Education.
 

Grade Level Information

 

6th Grade Information

On Nov. 25, the 6th grade students will be taking a field trip to the Golden Ticket Cinema. Students will be eligible to attend this event if they have not “fouled out” for the month of November, received a major office referral, been suspended or been placed in ICE. The cost is $13. This includes the movie, a drink, popcorn, & transportation.  The tickets and permission slips will ONLY be available through School Cash Online. Tickets will be available for purchase on SCO on Tuesday, November 11th and will close the evening of Thursday, November 20th.  We are trying to teach the students that it is their responsibility to make sure it is purchased on time. No money or permission slips will be accepted in the front office at any time. Tickets will no longer be available after the 20th. Students who want to purchase extra food may bring extra money to buy it.

November AR:
8 AR points will be due November 25th. Students do have time to read in class, but may need to read at home as well! 
 
7th Grade

7th Grade Information

THANK YOU to everyone who helped make our first Fall Festival a success! The students had a great time! We could not have done this without your donations and time! We appreciate all your help.

The PBIS Reward for November will be Ice Skating. 7th grade will travel to Edge Ice on Tuesday, Nov 25, 2025 for a fun-filled day of skating. The cost of the trip is $12. The permission slip and fee can be found in School Cash Online. 

Reading - The November AR goal will be 5 points. 2 points may come from articles. The last day to test for AR will be Nov 24, 2025. November 25th is the PBIS reward trip to the Ice Skating Rink. 
 

8th Grade Information

8th graders will be attending “Godspell” at the Glema Mahr Center for the Arts on Nov. 14. Permission slips were sent home through Parent Square.

Slips & money will be taken care of through School Cash Online. So no money or permission slips will be accepted in the front office at any time or will be taken late. Students who want to purchase extra food may bring extra money to buy it.
In SS class, students have been learning about the Revolutionary War. Between now and Christmas, we will be learning the 50 states' locations, spelling, etc. and we will start researching famous and not-so famous people from the Revolutionary War. This is in preparation for our American Revolution History Museum exhibit. More info to come!

Don’t forget that final payments are due Nov. 12. Please bring check or money to Ms. Bearden.  
Parent Showcase will be at the CTC on Dec. 2 @ 5pm.
