Hello school community

Welcome to this week's edition of the James Madison Middle School Newsletter! We're excited to share the latest happenings and updates from our school community to keep you informed and engaged.
 
Trivia Night

Title ONE Family Night

On Monday, November 3rd, we will be hosting a Title One Family Night in the cafeteria. Popcorn will be provided by our Youth Service Center. Our Mental Health Counselor will be providing some mental health strategies for our students. The event starts at 6:00 p.m. and should be over by 7:30 p.m.
 

Second Chance Breakfast

Beginning Monday, students will have a second chance to eat breakfast at school.
If you miss breakfast between 7:00–7:35 a.m., you can now grab a quick meal at 8:26 a.m.. Cafeteria staff will be stationed in each hallway with “Grab & Go” breakfast bags.
After picking up your breakfast, please return to your first-period class to eat. We hope this makes it easier for everyone to start the day with a healthy meal!

JMMS VOLLEYBALL TRYOUTS

December 17th from 3-5:30
December 18th from 5:30-7:30
December 19th from 5:30-7:30
Any girl interested in trying out for the volleyball team will need to turn in a copy of their active sports physical to Coach Lee upon arrival to tryouts. Students who don't turn a physical in to Coach Lee will not be allowed to try out. Girls will need to wear tennis shoes and athletic wear to tryouts.
 

JMMS Talent Show

Important Dates regarding the JMMS Talent Show are:
Auditions: Tuesday, November 18th @ 2:45
Rehearsal: Thursday, December 11th @ 12:45
Talent Show: Friday, December 12th @ 1:00

Students who wish to participate in the JMMS Talent Show MUST complete the registration form by Friday, November 14, 2025, to be eligible for auditioning for the JMMS Talent Show.

A separate registration form should be completed by each student in group talent acts.


 

JMMS Veterans’ Day Assembly:

JMMS will host a Veterans’ Day Program on Tuesday, November 11th at 9:00am. Visitors are welcome to attend to help us honor our Veterans. If attending, please ensure that you bring your photo ID with you to provide at check-in. 

If you would like to submit information about the Veterans in your life to be honored in our program, please complete the following form by Friday, November 7th.
 
Pumpkin Contest
 

JMMS BAND

Congratulations to Mr. Mullins, Mrs. Mendoza, Mr. Emerson, Mr. Coursey, and the following JMMS students — Addison Coones, Lexi Eden, Paris Penrod, Gabe Reynolds, Jackson Schneider, Sam Rice, Daxton Cotton, Ollie Marvel, and Bella Willis — for placing 5th in the Marching Band State Finals held last Saturday in Bowling Green!

The 2025 Maroon band program is titled, “Shear Betrayal - the Story of Samson and Delilah.”

Basketball Season

Our Basketball Teams will continue their season(s) this week. Schedules can be found on our school's website. All tickets must be purchase online. The cost for all games is $7.00. Senior Adults can get passes by visiting the Hopkins Co. Bd. of Education.

7th grade Reading - The November AR goal will be 5 points. 2 points may come from articles. 

ELA:
 Our next Vocabulary and Spelling Quiz will be Friday, November 7th covering Week 9 and Week 10 words. Encourage your student to review a few minutes each evening, as consistent practice makes a big difference.
 

Career Lab (Exploratory) Connecting/Collaborating

Students in the CTE Career Lab have been connecting and collaborating with the community this month.
A special thank-you to Groves Electrical Services and the CTC for coming to speak with our students about potential career and educational opportunities! Check out the pictures of the week for a few more snapshots.
