Picture Day is Tuesday:  You can pre-order the pictures by going to mylifetouch.com and using the code EVT2VSCXG.  The students were given order forms earlier.  

Flag Sales continue until Thursday:  Students are encouraged to donate to the Patrick Rudd Foundation/Heroes Run Fundraiser starting next week.  See flier below. Our annual Heroes Walk will be on Friday at 1:00 p..m.

JMMS Boys/Girls  Basketball Tryouts:  Students interested in playing basketball at JMMS this school year MUST bring a copy of their active sports physical and wear appropriate attire (athletic shoes) to tryouts.  Students who do not bring a copy of their sports physical will not be able to participate.  If your child already has a sports physical on file with the school, reach out to the front office and one can be printed for you.  If your student can't attend tryouts due to playing a fall sport, please reach out to Mr. Watts, the Athletic Director at JMMS.

Girls' Basketball tryouts:

  • September 9: 4:30-6 PM in the JMMS gym

  • September 10: 4:30-6 PM in the JMMS gym

MNHHS Swim/Dive Team Information:  MNHHS swim meeting is officially rescheduled for Tuesday, September 2nd in the library at North Hopkins at 5:30.

  • Field Trip – Monday, September 16th:  

    • Destination: Glema Mahr Center for the Arts 

    • Production:  Sleepy Hollow. 

    • Permission slips:   already available in Parent Square.

  • Reading:  Be on the lookout for information about students obtaining a public library card through Mrs. Hunt. Packets will be sent home.  Students who return get 1 FREE AR point to use any month they choose! Having a library card will be helpful as students work to earn AR points in class.

  • 🎃 Volunteers Needed – Trunk or Treat

  • 📝 Attendance & Absences

    • When students are absent, it is their responsibility to talk to their teachers about makeup work once they return.

    • For a 1-day absence, we do not send work home, we work with the student then they return. 

    • If a student will be absent 3+ days, please reach out to their teacher(s).


JMMS 7th Grade Information:  Important Reminders below!

  • It’s been a great 1st month of school! We have enjoyed getting to know the kids and are looking forward to the rest of the year.

  • Tuesday is Picture Day! 

  • Science Lab Safety Contracts need to be returned to Ms. Johnson ASAP!

Reading: Ten AR points will be due on September 29.

Title One Parent Advisory Council:  If you are interested in possibly serving on our Parent Advisory Council for Title ONE, please send a message to Mr. Young.  (len.young@hopkins.kyschools.us)  We will meet a few times throughout the year to plan parent nights and discuss how Title One Funds are used and can be a help to students in our school.  

JMMS Yearbooks:  We have a few extra yearbooks from last year, if you would like to purchase one please reach out to melissa.johnson@hopkins.kyschools.us. The cost is $25.00.  

Youth Service Center:  If your child needs services from the James Madison YSC, please complete the following form as soon as possible. https://forms.gle/ckLy7wUcu4yQuyT6A

This form must be completed before a student is eligible for Happy Feet, Backpack Blessings, School Smiles, Holiday Assistance, and other services.

Services offered include: Cleaning, fluoride, x-rays, sealant, restorative care and free dental supplies.

Board of Education Information:  We want to provide information regarding the waiver forms for the district's Traceable Communications systems that are required by the General Assembly in a new state law (Kentucky Senate Bill 181). 

Examples of situations for which waivers that will be accepted include the following:

  • Your child is a babysitter for a district employee/volunteer and they need to communicate about care of the children. Similarly, your child may be an employee of an outside business that involves district staff.

  • Your child participates in a club/travel sport that is not school affiliated but is overseen by a district employee.

  • The church youth group your child attends is led by a youth pastor who is also a school employee/volunteer.

  • A close family friend who needs to be able to communicate with your child is also a district employee/volunteer.

Waivers will not be accepted for the following:

  • Communication between coaches, club sponsors, etc., with students regarding school or athletic-related matters.  Examples include the following:

  • Athletic coaches will not be able to text players about practices or games.

  • Club sponsors will not be able to text members about meetings or events.

  • Teachers communicating with students about tasks, class projects or assignments.

Paper copies of the form may be picked up at the Central Office, 320 S. Seminary, Madisonville. After obtaining the signature of the employee/volunteer, return the completed form to the Central Office in person or via U.S. mail.

Notifications regarding submitted forms will be provided to you via ParentSquare. One message will be sent for all accepted forms, and a separate message will be sent for any forms that are not accepted. Thank you!

'Great Futures' Staff Recognition Nominations:  We want to celebrate Hopkins County Schools staff members who embody “Great Futures Start Here!” HCS Superintendent Dr. Damon Fleming is starting a new recognition program to honor staff members who go above and beyond to create opportunity, inspire greatness, and remove barriers so all students and staff can thrive.

Details of the recognition program are posted on the district website.  You may submit nominations now using the online nomination form.

Honorees will be recognized publicly at an upcoming Hopkins County Board of Education meeting. Nominations may be submitted by staff, students, families, or community members. Thank you!
