6th Grade: The past couple of weeks we have been discussing citizenship in Social Studies. Students have written about what they would do first if they were president, going to the polls to see their parents vote, and writing thank you cards to our Veterans for the upcoming Veterans Day Assembly. The discussions we have had in class have been wonderful and I am so proud of the effort that was put into making some very thoughtful cards for our Veterans.
All students need to have a library book or something to read in every class. There is down time from time to time in classes as well as some teachers use the first 5 minutes of class time for reading. Any student who does not have a book will receive a foul. We as a 6th grade team have discussed this for many weeks now with our students and there are several who still come to class unprepared. Please discuss this with your child to make sure they understand our expectations from this point on.
JMMS BUTTONS for SALE: A flier was sent home last week with information about ordering JMMS buttons. Many parents ordered for the Fall Sports earlier this year so you might need a button for our Spring Sports. Click here for a copy of the flier and order form.

We would like to wish the following students from JMMS the very best as they perform next week in “Annie”: Natalie Fore, Halle Miller, Mylie Duvall and Kayla Cook.
Hopkins County High Schools will present a joint production of the beloved musical Annie on Friday, November 15 and Saturday, November 16 at the Glema Mahr Center for the Arts.
With equal measures of pluck and positivity, little orphan Annie charms everyone’s hearts despite a next-to-nothing start in 1930s New York City. She is determined to find the parents who abandoned her years ago on the doorstep of a NYC Orphanage that is run by the cruel, embittered Miss Hannigan. With the help of the other girls in the orphanage, and in adventure after fun-filled adventure, Annie foils Miss Hannigan’s evil machinations and finds a new home and family in billionaire, Oliver Warbucks, his personal secretary, Grace Farrell, and a lovable mutt named Sandy.
This is a joint production of Hopkins County High Schools and a First United Bank and Trust Proud Partnership.
Admission is $12 for adults and $6 for students and children. Visit GlemaCenter.org or call 270-821-2787 for tickets or for more information.
